My Photography Today...

There’s something profoundly moving about a black and white portrait. Stripped of color, these images draw attention to essence: the curve of a smile, the softness of a gaze, the story etched into a hand held tight. For anyone who feels stirred by the elegance of this genre, black and white photography offers a window into the soul, quiet, poetic, and infinitely expressive.

This style holds a special place in wedding and bridal photography. It elevates moments of tenderness into visual heirlooms, capturing not just how a day looked, but how it felt. A groom’s tearful grin. The gentle touch of lace. A parent’s proud eyes. In monochrome, these moments are suspended in time, unmarred by distraction, luminous in their sincerity.

Whether you're the subject or the one behind the lens, the inspiration often comes from a love of human connection. Black and white portraits channel that connection with power and purity, letting shadows dance and light whisper. They feel grounded, classic, and unexpectedly modern.

This isn’t just a style, it’s a way of seeing. And for those who love it, it never gets old.

Past Photography...

As I evolved, so did my understanding of what photography meant to me, to others. It wasn’t just about creating images; it became about connection. Whether working with people at their most prepared or their most vulnerable, I started to see photography as a way to preserve something real, a moment, a feeling, a story.

The camera became a bridge between what I saw and what others felt.  Over time, I realised that creativity is as much about discovery as it is about expression. The deeper he went, the more I craved work that felt meaningful, not just visually but emotionally.

That search for purpose shaped not only my photography but also how I approaches everything I do today. I am sometimes available for Black & White Portraiture and Weddings in the lower North Island of New Zealand. Email james@jamesprice.pro for more information.
