My Creative Compass: Why James Price, The Groovy Creative, and a Leap Across the Pacific

Why I’m James Price for Coaching and The Groovy Creative for Podcasting
— and Why I’m Looking Stateside to Support the Next Wave of Creatives

When it comes to building a meaningful, authentic brand, names matter. Over the past few years, I’ve been shaping two creative identities that work hand-in-hand, yet serve distinct purposes in my mission to fuel creativity:  James Price – Creativity Coach and The Groovy Creative – Podcast & Platform
Let me explain how they complement each other, why I chose this dual-identity approach, and why I’m intentionally focusing my coaching outreach on the U.S. creative community.

James Price: The Coach Behind the Creativity
James Price is more than just my name, it’s a commitment to personal connection, depth, and clarity. I chose to present myself as a creativity coach under my own name because coaching is intimate work. It’s about trust, authenticity, and transformation, and I wanted potential clients to connect directly with me, not a brand or a logo, but the real human behind the insight.

My coaching practice draws on nearly two decades of creative experience as a photographer, my background in early childhood education, and my advanced studies in art and creativity. It’s also infused with a deep belief in mindful, human-centered creative development.

James Price is the personal, professional, and powerful voice behind the coaching, guiding individuals to reignite their creativity, rediscover confidence, and navigate the messiness of making art and building a creative life.

The Groovy Creative: A Podcast for the Whole Creative Soul
The Groovy Creative is where the funk, freedom, and playful exploration live. It’s the public-facing, community-building hub of my work — a colorful, soulful podcast that amplifies creative voices and inspires listeners across the globe. The podcast began as an A–Z monologue series about creativity, but it’s evolving into something richer: a mix of insightful solo episodes, cheeky bonus segments like “Ask AI Anything”, and inspiring interviews that explore what it truly means to live a creative life. It’s where I can be experimental, bold, and, well… groovy

While James Price represents my professional coaching identity, The Groovy Creative gives me room to riff, jam, and vibe with a broader community. The podcast supports the coaching, and the coaching enriches the podcast. Together, they’re two sides of the same vibrant coin.

Why I’m Looking to the U.S. for Creative Clients
Although I’m proudly based in New Zealand, I’ve set my sights on connecting with creative clients in the United States, particularly in hotspots like New York, Los Angeles, Austin, and San Francisco. Why?

Because the U.S. is a global epicenter for creative entrepreneurship, independent artists, and digital creatives who are actively seeking meaningful mentorship in a fast-changing world.

Here’s what I’ve noticed:
🔸 There’s growing burnout in the creative industries.
🔸 AI and tech are reshaping how we work, and many artists are unsure how to adapt.
🔸 Many talented people are craving deeper, more soulful creative practices.
🔸 The U.S. has a rich podcast culture — perfect for The Groovy Creative’s expansion.

Plus, my coaching style — a mix of playfulness, mindfulness, creative experimentation, and deep personal reflection — aligns perfectly with creatives who want more than just a hustle mentality. They want meaning. And they want someone who’s walked the path, not just talked about it.

Who Are My Ideal Clients?
My ideal clients are creators who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward creatively — even though they know they have something meaningful to share.

They might be:
🔸 Visual artists and illustrators who want to reclaim joy in their work
🔸 Photographers looking to evolve their creative voice
🔸 Designers, content creators, and educators balancing art with digital noise
🔸 Creative professionals navigating burnout, imposter syndrome, or career pivots
🔸 Multi-passionate individuals trying to find their groove (without giving up their soul)

These are the people who will benefit from my coaching — not just because I’ve studied creativity, but because I’ve lived it, failed in it, rebuilt it, and now teach others how to do the same.

The Big Picture
So yes — I’m James Price when I’m coaching. And I’m The Groovy Creative when I’m on the mic. But really, I’m both. I’m the guide, the voice, and the cheerleader you didn’t know you needed on your creative path. So, if you’re in the U.S. and you’re ready to reignite your spark, refine your vision, and reconnect with your artistic soul — let’s talk.  Because creativity isn’t just a career. It’s a way of life. And I’m here to help you live it, fully, freely, and unapologetically groovy.
